I've been a working girl for about 38 years now.

Have done commercial art, technical illustration, website design and maintenance, and until a couple of years ago, wrote content for About.com's breast cancer site.

15 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and took a rugged course of treatments. I'm still here. My husband was my caregiver and patient advocate - no kidding - he even wrote a book about it: "Of This Sad Time" by Karl Stephan. Have been married to the same guy for 39 years, no kids, just pets. My Dad, who had Parkinsons' and dementia, moved in with us 9 years ago and we all coped with life as a family with dementia right in the middle of everything. Dad passed on with Home Hospice about a year and a half ago.
